Blogging … ? Who needs it ?

29 April 2008

I’m not sure which is proving the toughest at times … the training and the constant planning/replannnig of sessions or the blogging about the training and the planning/replanning ;-)

Two other guys who train with me from time to time are writing their own blogs now – see my Blogroll. Like me, its mainly intended for their own reference in the future and an opportunity to put down now how they are feeling etc. But its tough bloody work to keep at it!!!

Not so much a case of an expectant audience – after all i think i’ve had some 20-30 comments ever from 2 guys in particular, but a blog needs care and attention. It can’t be left alone with no recent entries … you can easily get as guilty about not updating the blog as missing a session.

However i’m nearly there … 10 weeks to go … stay with me reader – please do leave a comment (up to you as to whether its positive or critical).

Build1-Week 2: ramping up … 10 to go

29 April 2008

Possibly the “best” week of training so far in this journey … “best” in a couple of different ways

  • 13 hours 40 minutes or so logged for the week, which includes a Saturday of all days where i didn’t train at all
  • Balanced – good times logged across the three aspects of triathlon
  • Quality sessions – be it terms of endurance, speed or both
  • and finally best because at the end of the week I’m not completely wrecked, (tired for sure) so hopefully the change to the 2/1 week cycle will prove beneficial in the long run.

Total 13h:42m 3h:57m (28%) 7h (51%) 2h:45m (20%)

Build1-week1 …. 11 to go!

25 April 2008

For any reader catching up, I’ve moved to a 2 week hard – 1 week recovery & time trial training cycle now. The BASE period is now completed, and we’re into the Build stage, where the intensities should be rising now that the body is somewhat accustomed and used to the strain of regular training. The plan for this week was for 3 swims, 3 runs and 2 spins on the bike. Some social activities were coming up – an old boys reunion from College – so there were going to be disruptions to this plan coming through!

Actual Total 8h:41m 4h:41m (53%) 2h (23%) 2h (23%)
